Call for Applications: Communication and M&E Expert

The Regional Marine Centre (RMC) at the University of Ghana invites applications for the role of Communication and M&E Expert to support the closing phase of the GMES & Africa Programme - Phase 2. This position is central to ensuring comprehensive evaluation, effective communication, and impactful reporting as the project concludes.

About the RMC
The RMC is a regional hub for marine and coastal environmental research and services, focusing on Earth Observation (EO) technology to advance policy and resource management. With a reach spanning North and West Africa, our projects contribute to sustainable marine ecosystems, improved livelihoods, biodiversity conservation, and food security.

Position Details

  • Contract Period: 1st February – 31st July 2025 (6 months, full-time)

  • Location: Regional Marine Centre, University of Ghana, Legon, Ghana

Key Responsibilities
As the project nears completion, the focus will be on consolidating results, disseminating outcomes, and ensuring sustainability. Under the direction of the Project Coordinator, the Communication and M&E Expert will:

  • Lead the development of comprehensive end-of-project communication materials, including final reports, impact stories, and visibility resources.

  • Conduct rigorous internal monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to assess project deliverables, impacts, and outcomes.

  • Design and implement final stakeholder engagement activities to showcase project achievements and encourage uptake of EO services.

  • Synthesize data into actionable insights to support evidence-based decision-making and reporting.

  • Produce final policy briefs and or newsletters to communicate key findings to stakeholders, including policymakers and the private sector.

  • Organize workshops and events to facilitate knowledge sharing and gather feedback from project beneficiaries.

  • Develop frameworks for sustainability and recommend pathways for future engagement beyond the project timeline.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical expertise and strategic communication skills. Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communication, Monitoring & Evaluation, Project Management, or related fields.

  • At least 3–5 years of professional experience in communication, M&E, or project management roles.

  • Demonstrated expertise in end-of-project evaluation and reporting.

  • Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and capacity building.

  • Proven ability to design and execute M&E frameworks and strategies.

  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

  • Proficiency in communication tools and platforms, as well as report writing and data visualization.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Quality and timeliness of end-of-project communication deliverables.

  • Comprehensive M&E reports with clear insights into project achievements and lessons learned.

  • Successful engagement of stakeholders through workshops and dissemination activities.

  • Evidence of impactful use of communication materials to support project visibility.
