MarCNoWA / GMES and Africa Thesis Completion Grants
Grant Overview
The Marine and Coastal Areas Management in North and West Africa (MarCNoWA) Consortium, under the GMES & Africa (Marine) project, is offering academic grants to support postgraduate students in completing research related to earth observation (EO) data applications for coastal and marine resources management.
Objective
The project aims to provide decision-makers with EO-based information and tools to enhance marine and coastal resources management in North and West Africa. It focuses on supporting marine, fisheries, and environmental policies.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following conditions:
Be enrolled in a Master’s program in:
Marine Science, Oceanography, Fisheries, Climate Science, Marine Meteorology, Geography, Environmental Science, or related fields.
Research must involve the application of remote sensing in these fields.
For 2-year Master’s programs, applicants must have completed and passed the first year and be able to submit their thesis by July 15, 2025.
Must not be a recipient of another scholarship/fellowship/grant.
A letter from the research supervisor is required, outlining the use of funds for fieldwork and equipment expenses and updating research progress.
Eligible Countries
Graduate students from the following countries can apply:
Algeria, Benin, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo, Tunisia.
Grant Package
Up to €2,000 per applicant.
Intended to support the completion of a Master’s degree in North and West Africa.
