On May 1, 2024, the Edenway Foundation, a Partner of the Marine and Coastal Areas Management in North and West Africa (MarCNoWA) consortium, officially launched the GAIAthon ’24. This virtual launch, under the umbrella of the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security and Africa (GMES & Africa) programme, signifies a major stride in integrating digital literacy into environmental sustainability efforts across Africa.

The MarCNoWA consortium is proud to announce the successful completion of a bespoke training programme held in Ghana, dedicated to enhancing the marine weather forecasting skills of 13 selected trainees from Togo. Facilitated by the University of Ghana and the Ghana Meteorological Agency, this focused initiative aimed at advancing data management, forecasting, and early warning systems to bolster maritime safety and efficiency. This strategic effort underscores our commitment to improving regional marine weather forecasting capabilities.

In a landmark partnership poised to redefine the landscape of Earth Observation (EO) and its application in sustainable development, the “Centre de Suivi Ecologique” (CSE) of Senegal has joined forces with the MarCNoWA Project, led by the University of Ghana's College of Basic and Applied Sciences (CBAS).
